Soap Stone Sculptures

Soapstone
I first started working with soapstone in 2008 when a friend gave me a piece to try, I had seen the beautiful carvings she had done so was quite excited.
I find it so plesant to work with, and family that saw the little hug that emerged from that first piece gave me the encouragement to make more. I have now lost count of how many are out there!
The inspiration comes from the "circle of friends" candle holders, the human shape in a very basic form.
I also make shapes that are ment to serve no other purpose than to feel good. Recently I have added "balancing rocks" to the selection, I have personally come across these amazing stone structures in Zimbabwe and know they can be found elsewhere in the world.
